On July 21st this year the Italian Ministry of Health (MoH) released a new guideline about the use of social media for the advertising of medicinal product without prescription.

The main updates include the following:

  • The creation of institutional profiles, thematic profiles and product branded profiles (differently regulated) is now allowed on TikTok.
  • Promotional campaigns (previously called “editorial plans”) are now regulated also for Instagram and TikTok.
  • Some specifications on TV spots and their duration have been included.
  • Promotional messages can be published on websites that are authorized to sell medicinal products like online
